Throughout Now or Never, Arthur and his friends face several serious, difficult issues that no young person should have to face alone. If you are facing problems like bullying, your own or a friend’s drug use or suicidal thoughts or being rejected by parents, it’s natural to feel desperate or hopeless. I want you to know that there is help available. Please contact the organizations below. If you think you or a friend might hurt yourself or someone else, you can also call 911 to get emergency assistance.
Crisis Intervention/Suicide Prevention
- If you are feeling suicidal or need to talk, please call the Trevor Project at 866-488-7386. Trained counselors are available by phone 24 hours a day to listen and help. Although the Trevor Project is geared towards LGBT kids, any young person who needs someone to talk to is welcome to call.
Bullying
- Stop Bullying Now (http://www.stopbullying.gov/get-help-now) offers tips for kids, parents and teachers who are dealing with bullies.
- The National Bullying Prevention Center (http://www.pacer.org/bullying/) has resources for kids who are being bullied as well as information for kids who want to help prevent bullying in their schools.
Drug and Alcohol Addiction
- You can call the Alcohol and Drug Information Hotline (800-729-6686) for resources to help you deal with addiction. You can also contact Alcoholics Anonymous (www.aa.org) or Narcotics Anonymous (www.na.org) for info about programs specifically for young people.
Self-Harming Behavior
